NOTICE: Beginning with the Sept. 2009 solar report the MSAFE model was re-initialized from the Dec. 2008 smoothed sunspot minimum. Each month the Natural Environments Branch uses the most recent monthly mean data as input to the Marshall Solar Activity Future Estimation (MSAFE) model (described in NASA Technical Memorandum 4759) to produce the current monthly report on expected 13-month Zurich smoothed solar and geomagnetic activity. In addition to the complete report in pdf format, Table 3, Table 4 and Table 5 of the report are also provided in ASCII format for the convenience of those wishing to use the data directly in their computer programs. The current and previous issues of the report and the tables are also maintained as archive data on our site. The monthly mean data used in the production of the solar activity report are obtained each month from the official world archive at the NGDC Solar FTP Site maintained by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) at their National Geophysical Data Center (NGDC) in Boulder, Colorado. Missing data are computed using the preliminary daily values from the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center. Links to related topics:
